1. The Theme

All we need to begin is a photo, print, scan or even a good sketch of the original. Many of our clients are recreating images that have been “appropriated” by different groups over time. All they have available is a picture in a book, or perhaps a postcard - either are perfectly acceptable.

You can send the picture either per Mail or the original copy by post:

We will naturally return any copies you send us as soon as possible (always by registered courier).

2. The size

As well as the picture of the painting we do need the exact size too. Before you decide on the size please make up your mind about the frame. Maybe you have already a good frame at home, which you could use. Please send the measurements in centimetres height x width.

3. The Offer

After we have received your inquiry we will send you an offer within three working days. The offer includes transport and GST.

4. The development of the painting

We have a team of artists from whom we select the best according to the needs of the painting. At each step we will send you photos of your painting. You can send us comments if you would like to change anything.

Only when you are happy with the painting will we pack and send it to you.

5. Timeframe

It takes about two months to create this new masterpiece – this includes the time to paint it, possible corrections, drying and transport to your address.

6. Packaging

All our paintings are expertly - some might say exquisitely - packed. The canvas is delivered to you sealed, varnished and dried. We will never ship a painting that has not had sufficient drying time - this means that depending on the size of the painting, it could be up to 2 months from the start of painting until you receive the painting. This is all in the name of quality.

We will not stretch, frame or mount your painting. This is for good reason. Everyone has their own taste in frames, and most people take a good deal of time to choose a frame that suits not only the art, but the environs in which it is displayed. Firnissen is happy to consult with you to choose the right frame.

Also, delivering you a stretched and framed painting puts the art at risk of damage in transit. Our packing and rolling technique has been developed to ensure the safety of the art. We cannot promise the same from a stretched painting.

As good as it is for the transport of the painting, we advise not to keep the painting roled over a long periode of time. Please put the painting on a stretched frame, which you can get at any good arts and craft store.
